I dreamt of an ex best friend who was also my crush. I was visiting a family members friend at their house and it just happened to be one of his family members and it was a little get together with a few other people. I was told someone I might not want to see would be there and I got anxious, soon after I heard someone call his name but I refused to believe it was him until I saw his face come out from beside the car. I froze and turned around hoping he wouldn't see me but an arm wrapped around my shoulder and it was him who had pulled me into a hug. I stiffened and it felt awkward but relaxing in a way I knew I missed it but I didn't want to be near him. He let go and I could tell he could feel me being tense so he left me alone until he would briefly ask me faint questions about how I had been and gradually the atmosphere around us became more comfortable and I could almost freely talk. Soon we went inside because it was getting dark outside and someone came through the doorway to tell him that his girlfriend was coming. He immediately looked at me and I could almost see regret and guilt in his eyes before he told them okay and soon she walked through the door and sat with him. She introduced herself to me and he looked almost uncomfortable. She didn't seem rude but I could tell she was hiding something, most likely her true self from what I felt. He smiled but I could see the awkwardness behind it. I felt a pain in my chest because of it, no care about how we had a falling out I still cared about him greatly and didn't want to see him look so uncomfortable. I got up and walked out but I could hear him calling my name from the living room but he was stopped when his girlfriend told him to leave me alone
Dreams are highly personal and can have different meanings for different individuals. However, based on the details provided in your dream, here is a possible interpretation:
This dream may symbolize unresolved emotions and unfinished business with your ex best friend and crush. The setting of visiting a family member's friend suggests a sense of familiarity and connection. The anxiety you feel about seeing someone you might not want to see indicates unresolved issues or negative feelings towards your ex best friend.
When you see your ex best friend, you freeze and hope he doesn't see you, indicating a mixture of conflicting emotions, such as missing him but also not wanting to be near him. The hug represents a desire for closeness and the familiarity you once shared. However, feeling tense and uncomfortable during the interaction implies that the relationship ended on strained terms.
The arrival of his girlfriend represents a new romantic involvement in his life. The regret and guilt you perceive in his eyes suggest that he may still have unresolved feelings towards you. The pain you feel in your chest reveals that you still care about him and his emotional well-being, despite the past falling out.
Walking out and hearing him call your name may signify a need for distance and emotional space from the situation. His girlfriend telling him to leave you alone reflects her protective stance and your desire to remove yourself from the potentially uncomfortable situation.
Overall, this dream may reflect a mix of lingering emotions, unaddressed issues, and a need to come to terms with the past. It may be beneficial to reflect on these feelings and consider whether there are unresolved matters that need to be addressed in order to find closure and move forward.
